Who We Are

Artisan Acoustics is a new loudspeaker company born purely out of passion for music, sound, and emotional truth in audio reproduction.

Artisan Acoustics was founded by Nikos Psaltakis, a seasoned audio professional and lifelong audiophile whose passion for music was nurtured within a family of dedicated high-end sound enthusiasts. From an early age, sound was part of everyday life, a fascination that later evolved into formal studies in Electronics Engineering and a Master’s degree in Audio Production and Psychoacoustics.

That background became the foundation of everything we do today.

“It was the moment I heard Jean Michel Jarre’s Oxygène Pt.2 on my uncle’s DIY horn system, driven by two Luxman M-03 amplifiers back in 1988, that I knew where my heart belongs.”

From that defining moment, the mission became clear: to make speakers that create emotion, not just sound.

How It All Started

It was during the COVID lockdown that we finally took a pause from our demanding schedule in the pro-audio industry – designing, installing and fine-tuning music systems for others – to create something entirely our own.

We set out to build a dedicated listening room and a no-limits horn loudspeaker system, conceived without compromise.

The journey began with the acoustics of the room, which is the true foundation of sound. This was the first element we designed and constructed, integrated naturally into the architecture of our 110 m² basement – an irregularly shaped space created exclusively for the art of listening.

Then came the speaker. Drawing upon years of experience in the music industry by designing, voicing, and tuning systems and extensive research carried out during the lockdown, we created a four-way, fully horn-loaded, active system. This is our personal reference, the standard by which we measure everything else.

From Word of Mouth to Recognition

Soon, friends and fellow audiophiles started visiting to listen. Their enthusiasm and curiosity quickly turned into genuine appreciation. Word began to spread. Before long, a friend introduced George Ligerakis, CEO of the internationally acclaimed Ideon Audio – a listener with vast experience across some of the world’s finest systems.

After extensive listening sessions, George was deeply impressed by the transparency, detail, and lifelike realism of our horns – especially after the last round of refinements.

He then made a request that changed everything: to design a scaled-down version that could fit elegantly in his living room, keeping the high and mid sections of the original while combining midbass and bass into a single, compact enclosure.

And that’s how Euphonia was born.
